03/27/13: Samara is 8 weeks old!

Samara is now 8 weeks old and she is becoming more entertaining to watch. She still loves the playmat.

Also, if she is in the right mood, she will make sounds and experiment with facial expressions. If I try to mirror her face and her sounds, I can get Samara to keep going.

While watching the mobile, Samara has started expressing her delight with new coos and has discovered the ability to change the pitch of her voice to higher squeals/screams.

03/16/13: Samara loves the playmat!

Samara has been trying out some of her other toys, including the playmat. She is able to see the toys hanging down and has been working on batting them. There is also a star that flashes lights and plays music, which causes her to kick and coo.

03/12/13: Holding my head up is hard!

Samara has been doing tummy time more frequently. She can very briefly hold her head up, but then she face plants into her arms. Once her mouth finds her arm or hands, she then starts to suck them, which is kind of cute.

03/09/13: I like to kick in the air

Lately Samara has seemed to like kicking when she is on her back. For example, if she is on your legs she will kick your belly. Or, if she is watching the mobile her legs will kick like crazy. Usually the kicks are horizontal, but here you can see she has added some air to her kicks.

03/07/13: I sleep with my arms above my head

When not confined by her swaddle, Samara will sleep with her arms out. Her arms flail around while she is sleeping, going anywhere from her side to above her head.

03/06/13: Samara is 5 weeks old!

Samara is 5 weeks old today! Her personality is starting to come out, she has started to smile (yay!), and she has been doing well during tummy time trying to hold her head up.

2/25/13: Samara loves the mobile part II

Samara loves the mobile so much that it has become part of her daily routine. After she eats and is awake and alert, I turn the mobile on and she watches it over and over again.

2/24/13: Hiccups!

Samara often gets the hiccups. Even while pregnant, she would get the hiccups at least once a day when I was in the third trimester. Now I can see how cute they are!

2/22/13: Samara loves the mobile!

While Nana was up visiting again this week, she discovered that Samara loves the mobile! When the mobile is on, Samara's arms and legs start moving, her eyes become fixed on the animals, and she makes the cutest sounds.

Samara is now able to get both arms out of her swaddle and, like a proper lady, holds her pinky fingers out.

Samara has been getting stronger and has started busting out of her swaddle. Her little arm manages to break the confines of her straight jacket-like Miracle Blanket.
