Aunty Sarah invited us up to spend Labor Day weekend. Grampi and Grandma were also visiting, so it was nice that Samara could see lots of family in one trip. We got there Saturday afternoon and hung out once everyone got back from the pontoon. Samara enjoyed lots of attention and love from Aunty and Grampi.

08/30/13: I am 7 months old!
August 30, 2013
Today Samara turns 7 months old! Crazy how time flies. She just gets cuter everyday. I am biased, though.

08/26/13: Look what I can do!
August 26, 2013
Samara and I were playing around when I realized that I had taught her a trick. It is sort of funny, because when you go to an animal show: dolphins, dogs, etc. and the trainer is asked how they come up with the tricks, s/he always responds that they just notice what the animals naturally do and kind of go with it. Well, I guess that's what happened with Samara. I sort of trained her to do a trick that she kind of does anyway, but now I can persuade her to do it.

08/25/13: Elm Bank
August 25, 2013
With the weekend continuing to have beautiful weather, Seth, Samara, and I headed to Wellesley to check out Elm Bank. They have a lot of grass fields for sports and picnics, and a beautiful garden full of plants that they test to see if they can transplant well here. Samara enjoyed her time here and seemed to like touching flowers.

08/25/13: Cheerios, Part 2
August 25, 2013
This morning Samara tried Cheerios again. Despite how easily taken yesterday's video looked, it actually is a lot for Samara to get used to. She has to perfect the pincer grip to pick up the Cheerio, she needs to get it in her mouth, she needs to keep it in her mouth, and she needs to not choke on it. She didn't really do many of these things that well in the video, but it is amusing watching her try.

08/24/13: Arnold Arboretum
August 24, 2013
It was a nice day out, so Seth and I decided to take Samara to the Arnold Arboretum. We were pushing Samara in the stroller and we noticed she was looking very unimpressed. She had a very odd, but funny, look on her face.

Then she started acting a little fussy, so we stopped at the first available bench and gave her a bottle. She had a hard time drinking it because she was so curious. Every time someone would walk or bike by, her head would follow them. It was cute, but a little annoying because she wasn't eating! Eventually we got her to drink most of it, but it took a while.
Once she finished eating, Seth strapped Samara into the Bjorn and she had a fun time exploring and touching all the trees and flowers. We didn't explore most of the arboretum today, but we will definitely go back to see some more of it!

08/24/13: Cheerios
August 24, 2013
This morning I decided to give Samara Cheerios to see how well she could eat them. It went better than I expected, although I was nervous that she would choke and I would have to do the baby Heimlich maneuver. But I didn't, so hooray.

08/23/13: I missed the play mat
August 23, 2013
I hadn't put Samara under the play mat in a while because she usually just rolls around onto her tummy. Today I put her under it to see if she would still play, and it looked like she missed it!

08/21/13: Aquarium
August 21, 2013
Today we went to a small aquarium where you can touch some sharks, rays, starfish, and other creatures. Samara really enjoyed looking around and seeing all these animals for the first time.

08/20/13: Hi!
August 20, 2013
Today we relaxed in the morning then went to eat lobster rolls. It was a nice day out and you can see Samara was enjoying the fresh air. (She isn't sunburned, we were under a red umbrella.)

When we got back to our hotel, Samara was all smiles and happy as usual. We are very lucky to have such an easy-going, good-natured child.

08/19/13: Messing with Daddy
August 19, 2013
After the Botanical Garden, Samara was hanging out with Seth. She was checking out Seth's kindle, trying to eat it.

This looks interesting...
Let me get a little closer...
Now let me shove it in my mouth!
Then she got bored and started to mess around with Seth's head and face. She likes to grab your lips, nose, hair and rake your face with her little baby claws.
08/19/13: Botanical Gardens
August 19, 2013
Today Samara, Seth, and I went to the Botanical Gardens today. The weather was nice, the flora was beautiful, and they even had a 5 senses section where Samara touched tons of plants. It was a good day =)
Alan, the close-ups are for you.
